Several men in deep rust-red and maroon dhotis with gold-yellow borders wear long gold-bead garlands, gold pendants and rudraksha malas; the central figure wears a red-orange turban and gold-trimmed shawl and walks slightly ahead, while the man beside him gestures with his hand. Men in peach and saffron-orange robes, some with orange turbans and white beards, walk around them. Bystanders in red and pink shirts stand at right.2015-09-14November 05 20132013-11-05A photograph of saffron-clad sannyasis outside a yellow-washed building in Varanasi. In the centre, a man in a deep red turban with a red-and-white tilak wears a marigold garland with white flower strands and a rudraksha mala; he wears a red and orange dhoti-style wrap. Beside him, a bald man in red-and-gold robes with wire-framed glasses and a rudraksha mala walks alongside. Behind them, saffron-robed men stand on concrete steps, one blowing a conch shell and another holding a brass vessel. A barred brown metal window sits in the wall. Appearance-based cues are not distinctive enough to name a person, so the central turbaned figure is described by role only.2015-10-03Outdoor photo of a procession of saffron-robed sannyasis walking on a concrete ground under open shelters. In the centre, a man in a deep orange-red turban and matching robes with gold border, wearing a thick gold-coloured beaded mala, walks forward smiling with hands at his sides. Behind him, a sannyasi in red and gold robes wears rudraksha malas and a gold mala, another carries a water bottle, and an attendant in white dhoti and shirt wears a garland. Several men in white shirts and a few children in colourful dresses watch from behind, with folding chairs and red decorations visible in the background.2015-07-25A procession of saffron-robed sannyasis walks along a pale stone pathway toward a white building in the evening light. In the centre, a bearded man in a flowing pink-orange silk shawl and red dhoti, with a red tilak on his forehead, walks calmly forward. To his left, a man in a deep red robe with a thick beaded rudraksha-style mala and gold trim carries a folded cloth. Behind them, sannyasis in orange and red robes carry tall trident-topped staffs, and a woman in white stands among them. A bearded man in orange kurta stands at right. A camera operator's hand is visible at the left edge. Printed copyright text appears at lower right.2014-03-16Outdoor photograph on a village road lined with palm trees and a utility pole. A central figure in saffron-orange robes and a matching orange head wrap smiles broadly and wears a long garland of white and yellow flowers with red blossoms, plus a rudraksha mala. He appears to be a person by appearance cues (orange head wrap, saffron clothing, rudraksha mala, ceremonial garland), though identity is uncertain. Flanking him are several men in saffron dhotis and shawls with rudraksha malas and sandalwood-marked bare chests; one man at right raises a fist and another wears a blue cloth. A dark SUV stands at left. Five to six people are visible.2015-05-01September 14 20152015-09-14April 14 20132013-04-14 +1 copiesA photograph of a covered concrete walkway beside parked cars, where a group of sadhus walks in procession. The foreground man wears a white dhoti with gold borders, carries a red-orange cloth bag and holds orange sandals in one hand, with a dense rudraksha mala and a large gold ornament on his chest. Behind him, four sadhus in deep red-brown robes wear rudraksha malas and gold necklaces, one with a red turban, another with a shaved head. A bearded sadhus in orange robes and a gold necklace walks at the back. Orange flags and temple spires appear in the background.2015-09-14
