Night photo of a temple tank at a festival, with the water surface reflecting strings of lights. On the left, a decorated palanquin with flower garlands and a deity murti sits at the water's edge beside a red-draped platform. Along the right side, a long stepped ghat is lined with rows of small oil lamps and many seated and standing devotees in white and coloured clothing, some with folded hands. Strings of lights and flags frame the scene. Several birds swim on the water near the bottom left. The atmosphere is ceremonial.

On the far left upper steps, a group of people in white clothing gathers near a lit platform with a small flame and orange-clad figures, while several white-clad figures stand on the steps. On the right, a dark stone Shiva lingam with a black shrine and gold ornamental arches rises from a platform reached by a metal staircase, illuminated by a bright floodlight, its reflection visible in the still water. Night view of a temple tank with still water reflecting lights, where a decorated float or palanquin topped with a small deity murti sits at the left edge, its base strung with flower garlands and framed by oil lamps. Rows of devotees sit on the stepped stone ghats along the right, many in white dhotis and white saris, with some in pink, green and purple clothing. Hundreds of small oil lamps line the steps, and strings of lights run along the wall above. Some people stand along the top steps. Several ducks swim on the water near the float. The scene appears to be an evening festival event.

Night view of a stepped stone pool with a reflective water surface lit by rows of small oil lamps along the walls. Tiered stone steps on the left hold many small lamps and dozens of people standing and sitting, many in white and colourful traditional clothes, some in yellow and orange. Red flags line the upper walkway, and a central doorway in the wall is lit by floodlights. A white metal staircase railing is on the right. The gathering appears to be a night ritual at the pond, with people arranged along the steps facing the water.

Night photograph of a riverside ghat with red sandstone steps lit by a bright floodlight and strings of multicoloured fairy lights along the upper railing. Many people in white clothing sit on the steps, some with hands folded in prayer. In the centre, a standing figure in white cloth with a shaved head faces the water, while a low red and orange ritual setup with cloth and small vessels sits on the steps beside seated devotees. Other white-clad people stand near the water's edge at the right, and a wooden bamboo-and-plank ramp leads down into the dark river.

Night view of a temple tank with red stone steps lit by strings of multicoloured lights in red, green, yellow and orange that run along the edge and reflect in the water. On the left, a group of people in white clothing gathers on the steps near a small canopy and a decorated palanquin-style structure with lamps. A tall black Shiva lingam with gold-coloured decorative yoni-side pieces stands on a raised platform at right, bright floodlights illuminating it. Small oil lamps line the steps. The scene evokes a Karthikai Deepam lamp-lighting ceremony at the temple tank.

Night photograph of a stepped stone tank or pond, its dark water reflecting many small lights. Rows of people stand along the tiered steps on the left, mostly in white clothing, their figures dim in the low light. Strings of lights cross the background, and bright streaks of light trail along the stepped terrace on the right.
