Most participants are women and girls in traditional South Indian dress: many wear maroon and gold-bordered saris or blouses, others wear white or cream sarees with gold borders, and one older woman in the foreground wears an orange sari. Several have forehead markings and gold-toned jewellery, and some wear rudraksha-style beaded necklaces. A few men and boys appear in the background. Lamps are lit throughout the crowd, and the setting is an indoor hall with a light-coloured floor. No speaker or throne is clearly visible in this frame.2013-01-15
