A row of people in white ritual clothing hold lit oil lamps (diyas) aloft during a puja. In the foreground, a man with short grey hair, a white kurta and a red-and-white beaded cord around his neck extends a brass lamp toward the right. Beside and behind him, others in white garments with red and orange shawls or cords hold lamps or have open hands raised in offering. The background is a dim wood-panelled hall. The scene reads as an oil-lamp ritual, possibly aarti.

A row of shaved-headed men in white dhotis and white upper cloths perform aarti with oil lamps during a puja. The men in the foreground and middle hold brass lamps and a brass bell, with white and tilak markings on their foreheads, and one wears a rudraksha mala. Brass plates with flowers, a brass bell and incense sticks sit on mats on the floor. No figure stands out as a person candidate from appearance, so the men are described by role only.
