A photograph of a street scene in front of a whitewashed wall and a tree, with a crowd of women standing with palms pressed together in anjali mudra as if in prayer. Foreground women wear white or cream saris with gold borders, pink, green, teal and red saris, and some wear rudraksha malas and gold necklaces; one woman in orange sari stands at right. A small child in a blue outfit is held by a woman in a red sari at left. Behind them, men in white shirts and white dhotis stand near a red iron gate and a yellow vehicle.

A dense crowd of women and girls fills a dusty village street in Tamil Nadu, many wearing colourful cotton and silk saris in pink, orange, green, purple and blue. Several older women wear round spectacles and white hair, some with vibhuti or kumkum marks on their foreheads. A few small children are held by adults, and a young boy in an orange shirt stands in the lower right. A man in a white shirt and dhoti stands among them near a tree, and a shirtless older man stands at the right edge beside a wall with posters. The women appear to be gathered for an outdoor event on the road.
