January 01 20192019-01-01A large hall filled with seated devotees during a ritual, with haze or smoke hanging in the air and ceiling lights and fans overhead. In the foreground, rows of people sit on orange cloth mats; many wear white and cream clothing with red or orange shawls and rudraksha malas, and some have tilak marks on their foreheads. Two white projection screens stand at the far end, and red-draped tables line the right side. The scene suggests a homa or puja gathering, with the people in front facing the sacred space. Many people are visible, so the count is in the large group range.2017-09-27A large group seated on the floor in a temple hall during an arati or lamp-offering ritual. Behind them many men in saffron/orange garments with rudraksha malas and forehead markings sit on mats, some with white body paint or tilak. Many seated people wear orange and maroon clothing, with rudraksha necklaces visible on several. Long strips of green banana leaves hold food with small brass or steel cups beside them, laid out along the aisles for a community meal (annadan). Colourful paper lanterns and decorations hang from the ceiling, and screens on the side walls show the speaker. Ceremonial white-clad devotees sit toward the right near the front.2019-01-01September 16 20152015-09-16 +1 copiesNovember 06 20162016-11-06September 23 20172017-09-23A large seated congregation of women fills a open-sided tent at the Kumbh Mela camp.
