Many saffron-robed sadhus sit in rows, some wearing orange turbans and rudraksha malas, eating from round steel plates arranged on the floor with water bottles beside them. Several low wooden tables hold more plates and steel vessels. In the foreground, a bald man with a yellow tilak and orange robes eats with his right hand, next to a man in orange with a rudraksha mala and ceremonial beads who is also eating. An elderly sadhu with a white beard and orange turban sits at right with layered bead necklaces. A bearded man in red and a young man in yellow stand or sit near the left, and a young girl in orange sits at far left. Photo watermarked as archive material is omitted from the description. This is a bhandara (community feast) for sadhus, with a shaved-headed man in orange at centre.2016-05-05April 23 20162016-04-23A photograph of a seated group of saffron-robed sadhus taking a meal in a tiled hall, each seated on a low wooden stool before a steel thali with flatbread, rice, a small bowl of curry, a fruit and a steel tumbler; plastic water bottles stand between the plates. Several men press their palms together in prayer, and the man in the foreground left has his hands folded and wears rudraksha beads. A man in a white garment with a yellow shawl sits at the right edge eating. Identification of a person is not possible from this image; the sadhus are described by role only.2015-09-11 +2 copiesSeptember 10 20152015-09-10 +1 copiesMay 05 20162016-05-05A photograph inside a large orange-lit tent where long rows of seated monastics in saffron and orange robes sit cross-legged at low wooden tables, each with steel tumblers, water bottles and metal plates of food. On the right, a dense row of seated attendees faces the camera at the table edge, with bowls and cups set before them. Sandy ground runs down the centre aisle, and an orange canopy lines the upper frame. Some seated figures wear white shawls over saffron cloth, and several have grey or white beards. This appears to be a communal meal scene; no individual is identifiable as a person with sufficient appearance cues.2016-04-23May 11 20162016-05-11
