December 20 20112011-12-20April 29 20182018-04-29Temple interior ritual scene with a group of men gathered around a floor arrangement of decorated coconuts with leaf-and-flower tops, kalasha-style pots, and scattered pink rose petals in metal bowls. A man in a deep rust-red robe, with a dark turban, red-marked forehead, and layered beaded necklaces, holds a lit oil lamp on a plate near a stone pillar. Around him, shirtless men in white dhotis, a man in yellow garments, and men in orange robes stand with hands folded or watch, while another figure stands behind them. Aarti or puja offering in a South Indian temple setting; one figure wears distinctive rudraksha-style beads and a turban, and is described by appearance only as a probable candidate.2018-04-29A photograph of a temple courtyard during a ritual. In the centre, a bare-headed man in a deep orange-red dhoti and shawl stands with palms pressed together in namaskar, a white flower garland draped over his shoulders, facing a stone shrine ledge decorated with long strands of yellow, white and magenta flower garlands. Behind him, several people in white dhotis and saffron-orange shawls stand under a stone pillar; a cameraman in an orange robe films the scene. Brass oil lamps and a small brass vessel sit on the floor at left, and scattered petals lie on the stone. Several people in orange clothing are visible at left and in the foreground. The setting includes white walls, a corrugated roof and greenery beyond the pillared pavilion.2007-07-29December 07 20162016-12-07Inside a temple hall with stone pillars and fluorescent lights, a priest in a dark red-brown dhoti and shawl, with a bare torso, holds a lit flame over a tray in front of him while others stand around in white dhotis, some with yellow and red borders. Several bare-chested men stand with hands folded in namaskar. Trays of banana leaves, coconut-topped kalasha-style vessels, and pink and white flower petals cover the floor. An orange-clad attendant holds a long staff at right. This appears to be a puja or aarti in a temple setting.2018-04-29A temple ritual scene at a stone-pillared shrine hung with garlands of pink, yellow, white and green flowers. In the foreground, a bald man in orange cloth with white ash markings and a gold-beaded necklace holds a brass plate of flowers and leaves, while a woman in an orange sari, with long dark hair and gold bangles, kneels beside a silver tray set with small brass lamps, bowls and offerings. Behind them, a man in white dhoti with gold border and bare upper body stands near the garlanded platform, and a large crowd of devotees in white and maroon clothing watches; several people hold cameras and a tripod stands at the edge. Pillared colonnades and pink walls frame the courtyard.2011-12-20April 06 20172017-04-06April 06 20172017-04-06Night outdoor fire ritual, a homa, beside a brick-lined fire pit. A priest in white dhoti and shawl, with gold beaded necklace, stands at the centre holding a silver tray of offerings.
