Outdoor scene at an open dirt-floor compound beneath palm trees and thatched-roof sheds. A tall man with long, loose dark hair in an orange-saffron shawl and matching dhoti gestures with his hand toward a stone yantra-like base and a shallow stone bowl on the ground. Around him stand about a dozen men and women in saffron, orange and ochre robes, some with bare shaved heads, one in a yellow turban, and a few men in white dhotis and shirts. A bearded man in brown-orange robes holds an orange bag at the left. A white floodlight is mounted on a pole at the left, and a blue-and-yellow box stands at the lower right. The setting suggests a temple or ashram ritual preparation.2009-12-30A photograph of a village procession on a dirt road lined with palm trees and thatched-roof huts.
