An older man with grey hair and a shaved scalp performs a nasal cleansing practice, pouring water from a white ceramic neti pot into his left nostril while water streams from his nose. He wears a white collared shirt and a wooden rudraksha-style bead mala, with a gold bangle and gold ring on the hand holding the pot. A dark red curtain forms the background, and a small purple bird logo appears in the upper left corner.2011-11-24A photograph of an elderly man with grey hair and a bald crown, wearing a white collared shirt and a rudraksha mala, bending forward to drink from a white plastic jug held in his right hand while his left hand supports a clear plastic bowl. A gold bangle is on his wrist. At right, another person's outstretched hand with a gold bangle reaches toward him. The background is a plain dark maroon curtain. Appearance-based label: the man does not clearly match a person candidate with sufficient cues, so the role is given as devotee drinking water during a ritual.2011-11-24November 24 20112011-11-24Photograph of an older man with grey hair and a red tilak on his forehead, wearing a white collared shirt and a rudraksha mala, using a white ceramic neti pot to rinse his nose. His right hand holds a gold ring and a gold bracelet. A red velvet curtain hangs behind him, and a clear bowl sits in the lower foreground. A person in a teal top is partly visible at the right edge. The picture is an everyday nasal-cleansing moment rather than a formal ceremony. Appearance cues are insufficient to identify him, so he is described only by role and attire.2011-11-24November 24 20112011-11-24A man in a white short-sleeved shirt leans over a plastic bowl and pours water from a white jug into his left nostril, a jala neti cleansing practice. Behind is a blurred dark background, and to the left a silver ritual object with a curved handle stands on a stand.2014-12-17May 09 20132013-05-09Close-up photo of a ritual pouring: a hand with a gold bangle tilts a small brass vessel, streaming liquid into a brass plate. Beside the plate sit a white conch shell, a lit oil lamp, a brass incense holder with a thin stick of incense, and brass implements. A blue-lidded container holding flower petals and leaves sits behind. Only a hand and forearm of a person in white clothing are visible. Suggests an abhishekam or puja offering.2011-08-04
