A crowd of devotees gathers outdoors at dusk, many women in colourful saris with jasmine in their hair and gold necklaces. In the centre, an older woman in an orange sari reaches forward with her hands, while a woman in a maroon sari holds her palms together and a man in a white shirt bends forward offering flowers. Behind them, others in white and pastel clothing stand with folded hands. The scene suggests a darshan or blessing line during a procession.2006-10-23February 13 20092009-02-13August 15 20082008-08-15 +1 copiesNight photograph of a crowd gathered outdoors in darkness during a devotional gathering. Behind them a crowd stands in a room with framed pictures on the wall; a middle-aged man in a white shirt with an ID badge stands centrally, and a woman in a green blouse and white sari holds a metal plate of fruit. Several onlookers have tilak marks on their foreheads and some press palms together in greeting. The scene resembles a paada pooja or prasadam distribution. The seated figure in orange matches the a person cues, with a saffron turban, flowing dark hair and ornate garlands, but the appearance is only partly visible, so the identification is uncertain.A dense nighttime crowd of Tamil devotees fills a street during a procession in Pondicherry.
