A bare-chested man with long swept-back dark hair, a full beard, a tilak on his forehead, gold necklaces, a rudraksha-style garland and a saffron-red dhoti-shawl stands at centre, one hand raised toward a large cylindrical structure wrapped in yellow marigolds, white jasmine strands and pink flowers, with a flame burning at its top. Several people in the foreground, some with shaved or tilak-marked heads and one in orange, watch or assist. He holds a brass tray with a lit oil lamp, with yellow petals scattered on his shoulders. Beside him a man in white dhoti and pink shawl holds a brass bell and stands with his hand on his chest. Behind them a crowd of men in orange shirts watches, and a person near the top holds up a phone. The scene resembles a lamp-lighting ritual such as aarti.2017-09-06March 05 20182018-03-05Photograph inside a temple at night showing a shaved-headed priest in white dhoti and sacred marks on his forehead, seen in profile at left, smiling. In the foreground, a person seen from behind has long dreadlocks wrapped with a wide garland of yellow and white flowers and red blossoms at the nape, and bare shoulders. Behind them stands a large dark black stone murti with glossy surface, and a figure in a sheer yellow cloth. A small oil lamp flame glows at lower right.2018-03-05A photo of a bare-chested man with long dreadlocked hair wrapped under a crown-like band decorated with pink and white lotus flowers, wearing a red-orange shawl draped over his shoulders and a long red-and-white garland of flowers, with gold hoop earrings and gold necklaces with beads. He faces left with his hand extended. Beside him a man in white-and-gold ritual cloth has a red and white tilak on his forehead and holds a hand out. Other devotees stand behind with dark hair, red tilak marks and gold beaded necklaces. The Swamiji (probable) cues are the dreadlocks, flower crown, shawl and garland, placed as the central figure receiving honour during the temple visit. Pale yellow walls frame the outdoor setting.2018-05-08May 29 20182018-05-29 +1 copiesSeptember 23 20062006-09-23
