December 26 20132013-12-26December 26 20132013-12-26Night photo of a ritual line outdoors on a sandy courtyard with green leaves underfoot. In the foreground a woman in white with a red shawl stands with palms pressed together in anjali. Beside her a young man with a shaved head, white vibhuti stripes and a rudraksha mala wears saffron-orange cloth with red borders and holds a folded orange cloth. Behind them a man in white with a red shawl holds a tall red-and-white stick. Women in orange and white kneel and pour water from brass pots onto the leaves, with string lights and a golden decorative frame in the background. Several other people in white and orange stand further back.2015-07-07A photograph of a temple ritual on a tiled floor with green banana leaves laid out. Men in white dhotis with yellow borders stand with bare feet on the leaves, and their feet are being marked with turmeric or kumkum. A woman in orange robes with a rudraksha mala kneels and holds a brass plate of red flowers and offerings toward a leaf. Other people in orange and white clothes kneel and bow along the row, and a man in orange with a bare chest kneels at left. A woman in orange kneels at the centre beside a leaf. This appears to be a padapuja, a ritual of honouring the feet, with devotees in orange and white. No one in the scene is clearly identifiable as a person.2016-12-12 +1 copiesA large crowd of devotees stands outdoors with palms pressed together in namaskar. Most wear white dhotis and shirts with orange-red shawls, and many carry small white cloth bundles hung on their chests. Several hold tall orange flags on poles, and some have white ash or tilak marks on their foreheads. The gathering suggests a ritual or devotional assembly, and the scene is densely packed with people.2013-12-26December 22 20162016-12-22 +1 copiesA large crowd of devotees in white dhotis and white kurtas or saris, most wearing red-orange shawls draped over their shoulders, stands barefoot on green leaf mats in an open courtyard. Many have palms pressed together in anjali and eyes closed, while one man raises an arm. Some hold steel vessels and a white cloth bundle. Orange flags and a decorated pennant on a pole rise above them, with palm trees and a pink stone pillar behind. This appears to be a devotional ritual gathering, with no clearly visible central figure identified.2013-12-26Outdoor padapuja scene under a canopy with a red-and-gold throne. A seated figure in saffron-orange robes and a long swept-back hair style, wearing a gold necklace, extends his hands while devotees bow and wash his feet. Nearby, a person in a saffron robe kneels beside a tray of flowers and footwear, and white-clad women in cream saris with red shawls stand with folded hands. Saffron flags, a decorated umbrella and banana leaves line the courtyard. Swamiji (probable) based on the seated figure's long hair, ornate gold necklace and saffron clothing, shown as the throne occupant receiving padapuja; the rest are devotees and priests.2013-12-26November 12 2006 Salem Aadheenam Inauguration2006-11-12Night photograph of a large crowd of devotees at an outdoor temple courtyard, many standing with palms pressed together in namaskar and some with hands raised.
