Dusk outdoor ritual scene with a crowd of devotees in white dhotis and shirts standing with palms pressed together in namaskar on the left. A man in saffron-orange robes stands at the centre-right holding a lit oil lamp or aarti tray beside a red-and-white striped raised platform with small brass kalasha pots. Other saffron-robed people stand and kneel on white steps at the right, and a bearded man in orange cloth stands at the far right. Palm trees, a tall stone pillar and small buildings frame the background. Orange flags stand at the left edge. The scene appears to be a puja or aarti at an open-air shrine.2008-09-28Evening outdoor ceremony at a temple-like open courtyard with tall palm trees and a dusk sky behind. Many men in white dhotis and white shirts stand in a row at the left, many barefoot on flat round sandals, some holding red-and-orange flags. A central priest in orange robes holds a brass lamp or vessel toward a devotee on a white and red striped platform, with brass pots set in front. On the right, a figure in an orange robe and shawl stands beside a seated woman in orange, and additional people in white and orange saris and robes gather on white steps. A bare-branched shrub grows in the foreground. Many people are visible, so the count is approximate.2008-09-28September 28 20082008-09-28Outdoor ashram scene in daylight with palm trees and a tiled walkway. In the centre, a man with long dark hair wears a saffron-orange robe with a matching shawl, walking barefoot beside a bald man in white with a walking staff. Behind them, a large crowd of men and boys in white dhotis, white shirts and kurtas, some wearing yellow shawls, stands and walks along a mat. Some people fold their hands in namaste. Several people in white are seated or bending near circular fire pits or ritual pits on the sandy ground at left. Pale green and red-striped walls and small white buildings with corrugated roofs frame the background. The man in orange has distinctive long hair and a saffron robe, but the appearance is not conclusive enough to identify him.2010-08-01Night photograph of a crowd gathered on stone steps outdoors. In the centre, a seated woman in an orange saffron garment with a yellow-and-orange beaded necklace sits with hands together, flanked by people in orange and white robes. Around her, many devotees in white dhotis and saffron shawls sit or stand on the steps, some holding a child in a blue outfit. A man in white holds a camera on his shoulder, and a seated man in white at left works on a small case or equipment. The dark sky and lamplit steps suggest a Karthikai Deepam evening gathering. No clearly identifiable a person is visible.2008-12-11January 02 20082008-01-02September 28 20082008-09-28September 28 20082008-09-28Night-time outdoor gathering under dark palm trees with a crowd of devotees in white clothes and orange shawls.
