A tree-lined rural road in Tamil Nadu with a single lane of traffic in each direction marked by white dashes. Groups of men and women walk along the roadside and in the carriageway, many in white dhotis and saris with orange-saffron shawls and orange headscarves. A man in a white shirt and orange shawl walks in the foreground, while a cyclist rides in the middle distance. Roadside stalls with blue tarpaulin, plastic chairs and bottled drinks stand on the left, and a man in a white shirt and a shirtless boy stand beside a black water tank and clay pots on the right. Orange-clad figures continue along the road toward the distance.2008-08-01September 23 20062006-09-23September 23 20062006-09-23A tree-lined asphalt road runs toward the horizon under an overcast sky. Shaded by tall green trees with dirt verges, traffic moves in both directions: a blue-bodied truck, motorcycles and bicycles with riders in light clothing. On the left, several people in white dhotis and white garments walk along the verge, one woman in a white sari with an orange border. In the lower right, two heads are visible in the foreground, one wearing an orange-bordered white garment and another in white. No figure is clearly identifiable as a person.2008-08-01January 21 20092009-01-21September 23 20062006-09-23A photograph taken from behind a procession moving along a paved rural road lined with trees and utility poles. At left, an ornately carved wooden chariot with red-and-gold decoration, showing deity murti figures, is pulled along the road. A man in a light shirt walks at the left edge holding a long orange flag, and another person in white walks near the chariot. Motorcycle riders pass in the distance. On the right stands a blue signboard with Tamil text in front of a green gate and white pillars, beside a large tree and a dusty shoulder.2009-01-31A photograph of a roadside street scene in a small town, with a large yellow banner strung across the road. The banner shows a portrait of a man with a white turban and a smaller figure in a saffron robe, with Tamil text announcing an arogya yoga programme. Two tall vertical banners beside the road show saffron-robed figures with orange cloths. Below them, a group of about a dozen people in colourful saris and salwars stands near a row of shops. A motorcycle with a rider, a yellow auto-rickshaw, pedestrians and more two-wheelers move along the road, and a man in a white shirt and dark trousers crosses in the foreground.2006-11-25A busy street scene in an Indian town, with a woman seen from behind in a white and orange top and long braid walking past shops and shuttered buildings. Two tall vertical street banners hang from a utility pole; the nearer banner shows a saffron-clad figure with a wrapped orange head covering and raised hand against a glowing orange background, with Tamil lettering reading 'தியான சத்சங்கம்' (Dhyana Satsangam, meditation satsang). A second, smaller banner with a similar figure hangs further along. Men stand and ride motorbikes and a three-wheeler along the road under hazy skies and overhead wires. Only the banner figures are depicted; the depicted figure appears as a person depiction on a banner.2006-11-25November 10 20112011-11-10November 25 20062006-11-25August 01 20082008-08-01
