Dozens of small round plates, many lined with green banana or leaf, hold cooked dishes, grains, pulses, sprouted beans, fruits, lemons, sliced vegetables, green beans, a whole pumpkin-like gourd and bananas on a leaf. Behind the offerings, several people in saffron-orange robes and others in white dhotis stand with hands folded, and a bunch of bananas sits on a green leaf near brass items and a cloth-wrapped bundle. The scene suggests a puja offering arranged before a deity.2017-07-07A photograph of a free meal service at an ashram food counter under a corrugated roof with red-painted beams.
