A woman in a deep red saree with a gold border and a white flower garland leans over the pit, while a man in a cream kurta and white dhoti kneels beside it adding offerings. Another woman in a maroon saree with a white and red garland stands nearby with her hands joined. Scattered marigold and rose petals cover the ground, and a metal plate sits beside the pit. Offerings are arranged on brass plates, including a plate of flowers and fruit, and a brass ladle rests on the brick edge. A middle-aged man in white with spectacles and a shawl sits beside a woman in a white sari with a gold border and jasmine garland, both seated near the fire. A man at left in sunglasses and a rudraksha-style mala wears white, and other people wear white with flower garlands, some in red. The setting appears to be an open-air homa or yagna.2006-12-26A photograph of a seated group of devotees performing a ritual offering on the floor.
