March 20012001 - Glimpses From Various Programs2001-01-01A photograph of a homa or puja at a small hall with turquoise walls. On the left, a figure in a saffron-orange robe and matching orange turban, with a white flower garland around the neck, holds a ritual object over a low wooden platform draped in white cloth, garlanded with red flowers and a lit oil lamp. Three men stand on the right in white shirts and white dhotis; one holds a silver tray, and an older man at right folds his hands in prayer. Behind the platform hangs a framed portrait of two figures in white robes, garlanded with red flowers. Scattered flower petals lie on the floor.2001-01-01January 02 20082008-01-02A photograph of a small white-walled hall with a colourful striped mat on the floor. A woman seated in front wears a bright orange sleeveless top with an orange shawl over her shoulders and her hair in a low braid, her back to the camera. Facing her, a group of men in white shirts and white dhotis stand in a semicircle; one in the centre gestures with his right hand while another in the middle with a rudraksha-style mala has his hands pressed together in namaste. An older man in a cream shirt also presses his palms together. The men's appearance is ordinary white ritual and everyday clothing; no candidate for a person is visibly identifiable from appearance, so no identification is made. Fruits sit on a plate at the right edge.2009-08-05September 23 20062006-09-23A photograph inside a bare whitewashed room with a barred window. In the centre, a figure in an orange sleeveless top and orange wrap, with long dark hair and a white flower garland, stands with back to camera before a white-draped table. On the table a framed photograph of a young man in orange robes with a beaded necklace, garlanded with yellow marigolds and red and white flowers, is lit by a brass oil lamp with a flame. Brass bells and a small brass plate with red flowers sit on the table. Two men stand to the left: one in white shirt and white trousers holds a brass plate, the other in white shirt and beige trousers with a camera around his neck presses his palms together. A third person in white clothes stands at the far left. Another figure in white dhoti with green border stands near the altar.2010-02-16Indoor photograph of a puja at a plain room with pale walls, a wall clock and a window grille. A long-haired man in an orange saffron robe stands at a decorated table, reaching toward offerings of fruit, flowers, a plate of rice and a small oil lamp with a flame. Behind him, men in white dhotis and shirts stand with hands folded in namaskar, and another man in a red shirt handles offerings. A man in white at left, with hands pressed together, faces the altar. Garlands of yellow and red flowers hang at the table front and near the framed picture above, and brass lamps stand on the altar.2006-12-17A photograph of a seated group in a room with a garlanded framed portrait of a seated figure in saffron on the wall, plus marigold and rose floral decorations and small framed pictures. A man in a white shirt and grey trousers stands at left, speaking and gesturing toward the group. A man in white dhoti with a gold border and an orange rudraksha mala kneels at lower left, seen from behind. A bearded elderly man in saffron robes with a white sacred mark on his forehead sits centre-left. A woman in a rust-red turban and rust-red robe with a heavy gold necklace sits beside him, holding his hand. A shaven-headed man in orange robes and a white shawl sits at right with his hands clasped. The portrait's caption is not legible.2015-09-15 +1 copiesA photograph of a ceremonial blessing inside a hall with a red and orange temple-architecture backdrop. A man with long dark hair, wearing an orange-red sleeveless top and orange dhoti, stands at right and drapes a red and gold shawl over the head of a bald man in orange robes who bows before him. A man in orange robes with curly hair stands beside them, and a bare-chested devotee kneels in front. Behind them a line of standing onlookers watches, including a woman in a white sari with gold border and rudraksha beads, and men in white and shirts. At right stands an ornate gold-framed red velvet throne decorated with yellow and white flower garlands and fruit on a tray. The red-carpeted floor is bare of shoes near the front. Swamiji (probable) appears as the man in the orange-red top with long hair, who is the one giving the blessing, and the appearance cues are long swept-back hair and orange-red clothing.2009-08-09A photograph taken indoors in a plain hall with a lattice-screened window and a wooden beam overhead. In the centre, a man in an orange-saffron turban and matching orange robe stands in profile, facing left. Two men in white shirts and white dhotis stand with their backs to the camera on either side, and a partially visible person in light blue cloth is at the right edge. A small white-topped object sits at the far left edge.2003 - Sacred collection Uncategorized
