Beside him on an ornate gold throne is a large framed cutout portrait, not a living person, of a smiling bearded figure in an orange turban, garlanded with white jasmine and red-yellow-pink flowers, wearing rudraksha beads and gold necklaces. Red cushions and gold-embossed backdrop surround the scene, marking a Dakshinamurthy Homa with Vishesha Dravya Homa during the festival. Printed banner text reads Dakshinamurthy Homa Vishesha Dravya Homa, Nithyanandotsavam 2021 Day 3.2021-12-21ADIKAILASA on 1/3/20222022-01-03May 07 20172017-05-07A young man in orange and saffron robes sits cross-legged on a red, green and purple striped mat before a golden relief wall of standing sages and a deity figure. He wears an orange turban, rudraksha mala necklaces and a gold chain, and ladles ghee or offering from a small bowl into a flaming wooden homa fire box. Nearby sit a brass oil lamp, a brass plate with flower petals, a bowl of leaves and a dish of fruit, and a decorated deity murti with garlands on the left. The caption reads Shiva Deeksha, Nithyanandotsavam 2021, Day 16. In the foreground a bearded man with long dark hair wrapped in a turban and white forehead markings, wearing an orange shawl and beaded malas, sits with palms joined before a microphone at a homa altar with offerings. Behind him a large gold-painted standing female figure with hands in anjali mudra stands beside a bronze bowl. On the right a large image of a smiling bearded figure in an orange turban and saffron robes, wearing a long gold-beaded mala and ornate gold chest pendant, raises one hand in blessing on a red and gold throne; this is a printed or painted depiction, not a physical person.
