KAILASA MADURAI On December 28, 2025

A street procession photographed in a crowded urban lane, image rotated sideways. A figure in an orange-red turban and orange garment stands at center, behind a decorated palanquin draped in garlands and bright flowers. Devotees in white and yellow clothing crowd around, some with hands folded. Above the scene a red-and-white ceremonial umbrella is visible, with a long wooden staff topped with a brass finial at the upper left. Shops line the street with signboards including a 'SK LAK' sign and a Cambridge advertisement. A small lit lamp glows in a shrine-like stall at center. A blue caption reads 'Mandakpadi offering'.

Indoor temple scene with a crowd of devotees in white dhotis and saris. A central figure in a saffron-orange robe with long swept-back hair and a white garland-like cloth stands with hands folded in namaskar, smiling. A bare-chested priest with a beard in a white dhoti stands at right, and a man in a yellow silk shawl holds a white flower garland and offerings. A cameraman films at left. Framed devotional paintings of deities hang on the wall behind, and a black board with white Tamil lettering is mounted above them. The setting appears to be a South Indian temple hall.

Street scene at dusk during a Mandakpadi offering in Madurai. In the foreground a figure wearing a bright orange turban, orange saffron-coloured wrap and a rudraksha-style bead necklace stands beside a bare-chested man in a white head cloth and white dhoti with a sandalwood mark on his arm. Behind them a man in a black shirt with a bead bracelet stands next to a boy in a white patterned shirt, and onlookers crowd the street. A brass handbell sits on a wooden table in front, next to a woven basket, and a decorated umbrella and garland-adorned deity display are visible at upper left. Shop signs in Tamil script line the street. The orange-clad figure's identity is uncertain from appearance alone.
