A large black stone Shiva lingam on a striped red-and-white plinth rises at left. Red-painted steps and a red seating area surround the scene, with construction equipment visible in the background.2010-08-06Outdoor photograph of a ritual at a stepped red-brick tank or pond. On the left, several bare-chested men in white dhotis with yellow borders and rudraksha malas stand at the water's edge. In the centre, a bare-chested priest with a shaved head, rudraksha mala and tied yellow-bordered white cloth holds papers and a small object, while a woman in a blue-green sari stands beside him. Behind them, many saffron-robed sannyasis, mostly shaved-headed and some with rudraksha malas, sit on the red steps. Red and orange flags line the upper area, and a white-clad cameraman stands at right. No figure is clearly identifiable as a person from appearance.2016-10-11A photograph of a line of shaven-headed male devotees standing barefoot on a stone embankment beside a water tank with red-painted tiered steps behind them. Most wear white dhoti-style garments with yellow sashes, while several wear saffron or orange cloths over their shoulders and waists. One man in the foreground wears a white shirt and yellow waist cord with hands folded, and the group faces the water as if in ritual observance. Red-tiered seating and a thatched hut are visible in the background.2010-08-06July 07 20092009-07-07Outdoor ritual at a stepped water tank with white and red striped steps. A young man with long dark hair wears an orange saffron robe and a multicolour flower garland, walking along the water's edge past several black stone shivalingams draped in white cloth and garlanded with white and red flowers. Behind him, saffron-robed sannyasis and white-clad attendants stand on the steps; one attendant holds a trident-like staff and another carries a small ceremonial vessel. Devotees in white and orange watch, and a child in white is held on the right. The scene suggests a Rudrabhishekam or bhoomi puja style ritual at a temple tank.2009-07-08A photograph of a group of shaved-headed men in white dhotis and white shirts with yellow sashes walking down a red-brick stepped ghat beside a rectangular water tank. A metal railing staircase descends into the water on the left. Most men are smiling and some wear rudraksha malas. Behind them, a red stone staircase rises. Foreground figures walk toward the viewer while others stand along the steps.
