December 15 20172017-12-15A photograph of a large outdoor pandal with red and gold drapery and a red floor covering, where seated devotees sit in rows facing a gilded throne at left. On the throne sits a man with long dark dreadlocked hair, wearing a saffron-orange shawl with a garland and a rudraksha mala, holding a ceremonial golden staff. Around the seated devotees are steel plates with flowers, fruits and offerings, and people in white, blue, teal and saffron clothes press their palms together in anjali. A man in white stands at the back near a camera tripod, and an ornate tiered canopy and decorative streamers frame the space. Several people in the foreground have long dreadlocks, and the scene suggests a satsang or darshan gathering.2017-12-15A seated group ritual under a decorated tent with red and gold draping and a gold-carved throne-like seat at left. A man with long dreadlocks, bare-chested and wearing a flower garland and saffron wrap, sits on the gold seat facing a circle of devotees seated on red carpet. Devotees hold brass plates of flowers and offerings, several with palms pressed together. Women wear saris and salwar in blue, purple, red and floral prints; men wear white and cream dhotis and kurtas. Yellow flowers and banana-leaf-style offerings are scattered on the floor, and a kalasha-like vessel stands nearby. The scene reads as satsang or a seated puja with devotees, not a festival procession.2017-12-15A seated group of devotees on a bright red floor covering during a ritual gathering, with plates of flowers and offerings placed before them.
