A barefoot man in a soaked white shirt and white trousers dances on wet sandy ground, holding a clay pot of red-brown offerings against his side while water spills around him. He wears a dark beaded mala with a pendant and a gold necklace, and a gold bangle on one wrist, with hair wet and tousled. Behind him a crowd of about 20 people, many in light-blue and white t-shirts and white dhotis, raise their arms and clap in celebration, some children reaching toward him. Appearance-based label: no robust a person cues beyond a mala and gold chain, so identity is unclear.2009-12-25December 25 20092009-12-25December 25 20092009-12-25Outdoor photograph of a crowd of men, boys and a girl in white and light blue clothes cheering and raising arms beside a sandy, puddled ground. In the centre, a barefoot man in a white half-sleeved shirt and white dhoti is mid-leap, holding a clay pot against his side and a wooden stick in one hand, water splashing around him. Behind him, a man in a white shirt wears a gold necklace and a red bindi. A red metal pole stands in the foreground, and scaffolding and a pale building with orange-and-green bunting are visible behind. Light blue and white tees show a dove-like logo.2009-12-25Outdoor photo of a wet, muddy courtyard during a water-splashing celebration. A bare-headed, shaved-headed man in white robes and a bare-chested figure in white stand in the splash of water at center, with a stream of water flying from a bucket. A woman in a red-orange sari and a woman in a black top with a yellow-and-white sari hold red and blue buckets nearby. Behind them a crowd of people in white clothes, saffron and orange tones, and casual wear stands around blue water drums. A pot hangs from a rope between two tall poles at the top right, and a tin-roofed building and palm trees appear in the background.2010-09-02Outdoors on a dirt path, three men in white dhotis and white shirts dance energetically with raised arms and joyful expressions, with a crowd of devotees lining both sides. The man at center right wears a rudraksha-style pendant on a cord and has his hands up; the man at left holds a small object in one hand. Behind them stands an orange-brown structure, green trees, and a decorated string of leaves. Several onlookers in white and colourful saris stand along the path, and a man in a yellow and black shirt holds a drum.2012-07-03Outdoor fire-walking ritual at dusk in a shaded yard. In the centre, a barefoot figure in a flowing saffron-orange robe with long swept-back hair and a large gold necklace walks across a shallow pit of coals, one hand raised. Around them, a crowd of devotees in white kurtas, white dhotis and white shirts with red shoulder cloths and lanyard ID cards watch closely; one man holds a white plate. Drummers in white at the edges play drums, and wooden poles stand along the right. Behind the crowd are trees and a few onlookers in white. The scene is a fire-walk ritual, and the central figure matches the saffron-robed, long-haired cues of the page's a person reference.2005-12-31Outdoor photo of a seated man with long dark hair in an orange-saffron robe, smiling broadly and holding a handheld microphone in his left hand while reaching toward a terracotta pot held by a man in a loose white kurta. The pot is being struck or offered with a bamboo stick. Behind them a crowd of devotees in white and orange clothing stands on sandy ground, some clapping, with palm trees and a low brick wall in the background.2010-09-02March 11 20172017-03-11December 25 20092009-12-25A photograph of a crowd gathered closely around a central figure during an outdoor festival procession. The central man has long dark hair swept back, a white vibhuti-style mark on his forehead, a bare upper torso partly covered by an orange-saffron cloth, and multiple beaded rudraksha-style malas and gold ceremonial necklaces. He is smiling and surrounded by devotees. Around him, many people in white traditional clothes press forward; several girls with palms pressed together in namaste, a man in white with a dark rudraksha mala, a man in white and orange holding a long staff topped with gold, and boys in striped and colourful shirts. Behind them, flower garlands and orange-draped figures are visible near a decorated altar. A few brass bells are held by a group of women in white on the left.2008-12-23Outdoor festive dancing on a dirt ground in front of a long line of onlookers. Three men in white shirts and white dhotis dance energetically with raised arms; one wears a dark cord necklace, another a light shirt and sandals.
