July 24 20172017-07-24 +1 copiesA large outdoor ritual at a stepped stone amphitheatre in front of a tall white Shiva lingam on a raised pedestal. Rows of people in orange and white garments sit on the red-tiled steps, each before a black lingam on a stone yoni base with brass plates, lamps, flowers and offerings. Many wear orange cloths, some bare-chested with white dhotis, and several stand at the lower level. Orange flags stand along the railings and a red-brick building rises behind. Given the large number of seated ritual participants, this appears to be a group abhishekam or puja at the lingams, with the central lingam being honoured.2017-07-24A large outdoor stepped amphitheatre-style abhishekam hall with rows of black Shivalingams on red-tiled tiers. Many men in orange and white dhotis and orange shawls sit cross-legged before the lingams, with brass bowls, flowers and ritual vessels set in front of them. A central raised stone Shivalinga and a dais with a seated figure in gold and orange stand across a large empty pool at right, with red flags along the edges and a pink multi-storey building behind. Several figures in orange robes stand on the steps, and an attendant in white is at the right edge. Ritual abhishekam chanting appears to be underway. The a person field is unsure because no candidate's appearance can be confirmed from the distance.2017-07-24A large crowd of devotees sits in tiered rows on red stone steps beside a reflective water tank, seen from across a metal railing. Many wear saffron-orange robes, while others wear white dhotis and shawls; some have bare upper bodies. Several sit cross-legged and some stand near the railing. Orange flags and a loudspeaker are mounted on poles above, and a white-clad figure walks along the left edge. Water reflects the seated rows.
