February 16 20072007-02-16A photograph of an evening puja at a temple shrine. A man in a white shirt and white dhoti stands at left, bent forward and holding a brass plate of flowers and an oil lamp toward the altar. Beside him, a person in saffron-orange robes with a long rudraksha mala stands with hands folded in front of the body, head bowed. Behind them, a golden deity murti is draped in garlands of marigold and red flowers, with tall brass oil lamps (deepas) lined along the stone altar. Carved stone pillars frame the shrine, and an orange floor mat runs across the foreground.2010-07-07A photograph inside a stone shrine before a deity murti seated on a golden throne, adorned with red and yellow flower garlands and a golden crown. Brass oil lamps stand in rows on the platform. In the foreground, a man in a white shirt and white dhoti bends forward, lighting or tending a brass lamp. Beside him, a man in orange robes with a rudraksha mala stands with hands folded in reverence. Another man in orange clothing stands at the left edge.2010-07-07A photograph of a temple blessing at dusk before a shrine with a golden deity murti garlanded in marigolds and flowers, flanked by brass lamps. A man in orange robes with long dark hair, standing on the right, holds a plate of offerings in one hand and touches the head of a devotee with the other. The devotee, in a white shirt and white dhoti with a red-and-gold shawl, bows with hands joined near his chest. Another white-clad person stands behind, and an orange cloth hangs on the left. The orange robed man has distinctive long hair and orange clothing, but his appearance is not distinctive enough to confirm identity, so he is described by role only as a robed priest. Three people are visible.2010-07-07Photo inside a temple shrine. A tall brass lamp stands in the foreground with a red flower tied near its top. Two men in white ritual dress bend toward it, one with hands extended over the flame; one wears a white shirt and dhoti, the other is in a yellow-and-white shawl with tilak. Beside them stands a figure in a flowing orange robe with a rudraksha mala, hands clasped in front, appearing as a person sannyasi figure, with long swept-back hair. Behind the brass lamps and kalasha-style vessels, a deity murti is dressed in magenta and garlanded with marigolds and white flowers, with a gilded canopy above.2010-06-18December 30 20082008-12-30February 16 20072007-02-16January 02 20092009-01-02February 16 20072007-02-16A man with long, swept-back dark hair and a red tilak on his forehead wears an orange saffron shawl and a rudraksha mala, leaning forward with eyes lowered beside a granite shivalinga. Behind the stone stands a large metal deity murti decorated with jewelled hands, gold and silver necklaces, and yellow and red flower garlands. Another person in white dhoti with a red-and-gold border bends over near the linga. Dim temple architecture frames the scene. Swamiji (probable): the man's long hair, orange shawl and rudraksha mala are the distinguishing cues; he is shown performing puja at the shivalinga.2007-02-16February 16 20072007-02-16February 16 20072007-02-16
