Most wear orange or saffron robes with red shawls or white garments with red or yellow borders, and many hold small oil lamps with lit flames. In front of them are brass plates, small brass vessels and bells set on orange ritual mats along a white platform. Several women wear rudraksha malas. The room is dim with warm lamplight, and the women appear focused and seated in devotion.2010-10-21September 06 20132013-09-06July 28 20132013-07-28A photograph of a large indoor hall where many young women and girls in orange and red garments sit cross-legged on the floor in rows, hands pressed together in prayer. Several have white or ash lines on their foreheads and rudraksha-style beaded necklaces. Before them on low stone platforms are brass pooja vessels, a small oil lamp, bowls of flowers, kumkum and a plate of offerings. Some have their eyes closed. Red curtains and stacked chairs stand along the back wall, and a man in white sits at the far left edge.2014-07-08
