Close-up photograph of a brick-built fire pit, a homa or yagna kunda, with orange flames rising between yellow-dusted brick courses. Bright turmeric or kumkum-coloured powder covers the top edges. Behind it, a golden plate or tray holds white and yellow flower garlands, with a golden object and blurred ritual items beyond. No people are visible in the frame.2011-12-20December 20 20112011-12-20A homa fire burns inside a square fire pit built from stacked brown bricks, each top brick dusted with white ash-like powder and dotted with red kumkum. A silver bowl with a ladle sits on the brick rim at left, and a red-robed figure with wrists and a bracelet visible sits behind the fire, tending the flames. Scattered petals and a small potted plant appear at the right edge, and brass vessels rest at the left.2014-03-18A photograph of a homa fire pit built from stacked yellow-ochre bricks, with flames burning in the central opening. The bricks are dusted with white powder and decorated with scattered red flower petals, and a few thin sticks lie across the top. A small brass cup and a lit wick lamp sit at the front, with fruit and flower offerings in the foreground. Blurred background shows a turquoise structure and partially visible figures in white cloth, but no clearly identifiable person is in focus.2016-07-03February 19 20162016-02-19November 29 20112011-11-29December 23 20102010-12-23December 08 20112011-12-08 +1 copiesNovember 29 20112011-11-29May 13 20132013-05-13A close view of a square fire pit built from yellow-green and red-orange bricks, with white powder dusting the brick tops, and a tall flame rising from its centre. Blurred orange-robed clothing appears at the upper right, and the background is out of focus with indistinct figures in white. No individual figure is clearly visible, so the fire pit ritual setting is the main subject.2011-12-20A brick fire pit (homa kunda) burns brightly at the centre of the frame, with white rangoli-style kolam lines painted on the bricks and a red flower lying on the edge. A metal vessel with a long handle. Behind the fire, blurred red flower petals and the orange robe of a seated person appear at the edges. No face is clearly visible, so no one is identified.2019-03-17
