January 03 20122012-01-03A photograph taken outdoors in dim early light at a rural site with palm trees and a corrugated-roof shed behind. A man in an orange saffron garment and a matching orange cap stands centre-left, gesturing with his hands while speaking. Beside him, a man in red-orange robes and a green head covering holds a red cloth draped over a doorway, pulling it aside. Two bare-chested men in white dhoti-style cloths with gold borders stand at left with their backs partly turned, and another man in white dhoti stands behind. A further man in orange clothing stands at right near the doorway. A white wall with an orange wooden door frames the scene.2012-01-03Dusk procession on a dirt path lined with palm trees and a low brick wall, with a group of saffron-robed sannyasis and devotees walking together. Foreground, a woman in orange sari with a red border and a gold necklace carries a white object. Next to her a white-robed man walks barefoot with a white shawl. A man in orange robes with a long rudraksha mala walks at the centre, and at the right edge a bearded man in brown-orange robes carries an orange cloth bag. Leading on the left, a man in orange robes and an orange turban wears a rudraksha mala and holds his hands together at his chest. Next, an older man in orange with an orange turban and rudraksha beads carries a small book. Third, a bald man in a long orange wrap walks with a red tilak on his forehead. A group of about twenty men walk together. Most wear saffron or orange robes; a man in a white dhoti and shawl walks near the centre, and several men in white shirts and white dhotis with lanyards stand at the edges. A bare-chested sannyasi in orange cloth stands in the right foreground facing the group, and a bearded man in a rust-brown robe with rudraksha malas walks at right. A long-haired man in orange with a rudraksha mala and a white cloth in hand walks at left. No one can be confidently identified as a person from appearance alone, so the figures are described by role and clothing.2009-12-30Night photograph of a walking procession along a dirt path beside a red-and-white painted low wall. In front, a man in an orange saffron shawl and orange cloth, with long swept-back hair and a bare-chested upper body, walks forward. Behind him, two men in white kurta-style clothes with orange shawls walk; one holds a small torch or light. A man in white with an orange shawl is partly visible at the right edge. Dark trees and bushes fill the background. The front figure has distinctive long hair and saffron clothing, but the image is dark and blurred, so the identity is uncertain.2006-12-10Night procession on a dirt road beside a red-ochre wall, lit by a few lamps. In the centre, a young man with long dark hair, a ceremonial gold necklace and rudraksha-style beads, dressed in saffron orange robes with gold borders, walks ahead with eyes lowered. At left, a man in white dhoti with maroon border holds a long wooden staff, and a man in saffron with gold-trimmed cloth leads ahead, wearing a beaded necklace. Five men walk in a line: a shaved-headed man in white dhoti and shirt with a rudraksha-style pendant at left; a central man in orange-saffron robes with gold-bordered shawl walking with hands folded; a man in orange robes with gold border behind him holding hands together; a man in white dhoti and shawl with gold border; and a shaved-headed man in orange robes carrying a tray with a small silver vessel, green leaves and white flowers. A man in a white shirt at right holds a lit lamp and a flower garland. Appearance-based identity of the central figure is uncertain, so he is described only by role as a devotee walking in the procession.2012-01-02July 10 20082008-07-10December 31 20092009-12-31
