2002 - Glimpses From Various Programs2002-01-01February 16 20072007-02-16A seated figure in an orange-saffron robe with a long dark hairstyle sits cross-legged on a rug before a microphone stand, holding small white flowers or offerings in cupped hands, with a red tilak mark on the forehead. In front of him are a brass tray with fruit, a brass kalasha-style pot, a lit oil lamp with a large open flame, incense sticks, a small candle, a brass bell and red flowers. Behind him on the left, several people in white and cream clothing sit on the floor, some with hands folded and one writing in a notebook. The scene is lit warmly by lamps and candles at night. Being shown on the right is a shrine-like arrangement of cloths and a box.2005-12-19 +2 copiesPhotograph of a ritual scene at night inside a stone-walled structure with a bamboo ladder leaning against the wall. A long-haired figure in an orange robe sits cross-legged on a flat stone slab with hands pressed together in prayer, a patterned mat behind them. A man in white robes with an orange shawl stands at left with palms joined, and another person in white with an orange shawl stands at right. In the foreground lower left, a person holds a small flame, with a lit lamp or torch near the bottom centre. The seated figure's long dark hair and orange robe match the page's description of the consecration, but the appearance alone is not decisive, so the identity is marked unsure.2006-12-11January 08 20102010-01-082002 - Glimpses From Various Programs2002-01-01February 24 20072007-02-24Outdoor photo of a group sitting on a patterned green mat on stone pavement beside a tall stone wall, praying with palms pressed together. In the centre a long-haired man in saffron-orange robes with a white forehead mark and a gold-and-orange flower garland sits with eyes closed. Beside him, a man in saffron robes with a bearded face and glasses sits with hands folded. Around them, men in white dhotis and white shirts, a bald man in white, and a man in orange with a maroon-edged shawl and garland kneel or sit with hands joined. A uniformed police officer stands in the background, and devotees, mostly in white or orange, fill the surrounding crowd.2010-01-08A photograph of a courtyard ritual with orange-washed walls and red and white painted trim. In the foreground a man in an orange sleeveless wrap sits with palms pressed together in namaskar, facing away from the camera toward a low table with a tray of flowers and offerings at the right. Around him, devotees sit on the floor: a bespectacled man in white clothes with a white shawl, a woman in a red blouse and white sari with a rudraksha mala, and young women in pink and white clothing. Behind them, men in white dhotis wear yellow shawls, and a yellow cloth and shrine area are visible through the doorway. This appears to be a puja or padapuja-style gathering with devotees seated in prayer.2010-07-29Night outdoor ritual photograph. A long-haired man in an orange-saffron robe sits cross-legged on a woven mat, holding a lit incense or lamp and a small offering tray with fruit, flowers and brass vessels in front of him, with a microphone stand at his side. Around him several people in white and light clothing sit in a row, some holding small oil lamps and flames, with a small cardboard box, white cloth and a brass plate of offerings on the ground. The scene looks like a guru puja aarti with lamps and flame in low light. The orange-robed man with distinctive long, swept-back hair and saffron clothing is a person candidate seated in the ritual role of the person leading the aarti.July 25 20092009-07-25January 14 20052005-01-14 +2 copies
