February 24 20172017-02-24A photograph of an abhishekam in progress. A standing figure in a gold-and-maroon patterned sari-style garment, with a red border, pours liquid from a silver vessel over a small gold-coloured standing statue of a male figure holding a hand in blessing, the liquid streaming down onto the statue. Behind are strings of marigolds and red-and-yellow flower garlands, and a dark ritual vessel and a gold kalasha sit at lower right. The figure pouring is partially visible and no face is shown; the statue is a deity murti, not a person.2017-02-24A small golden murti of a standing figure in a loincloth, with raised right hand in blessing, is being bathed by a stream of liquid poured from a silver vessel held by a person whose draped golden-brown garment and bangled hands are partly visible at the top. Behind the figure are garlands of red, yellow, white and green flowers and a dark stone or metal abhishekam vessel. A small gold kalasha appears in the lower right. The scene suggests an abhishekam ritual. The visible person shows only hands and a draped garment, so no identity can be established.2017-02-24December 12 20162016-12-12 +1 copiesDecember 06 20162016-12-06December 06 20162016-12-06A golden statue of a standing male figure with a raised right hand in blessing is being anointed. A hand holding an ornate silver conch-shaped vessel pours a stream of liquid. The statue wears a golden dhoti and has a sheen of anointing liquid and garland fragments at the chest. Behind it, purple and yellow marigold garlands frame a white-draped platform, and a figure in orange robes sits in the background.2010-12-19 +1 copiesDecember 06 20162016-12-06A priest in an orange dhoti with bare torso and white ash markings on his arm pours liquid from a golden kalasha onto a golden metal murti of a standing young figure with raised right hand, a rudraksha-like bare chest, and a short ornamented lower garment. The liquid splashes over the statue's head and body. A golden ornate arch frames the left side, and the blurred background shows a crowd of people in orange and other clothing seated in rows under daylight.2017-02-26A shaved-headed priest stands on a wet platform at an outdoor event, bare-chested and wearing an orange dhoti with maroon borders, with a rudraksha mala around his neck and white sacred markings on his arms. He pours yellow liquid from a brass kalasha over a golden bronze deity murti of a standing figure, which is adorned with a pink-and-purple flower garland and a gold dhoti. Yellow spray flies around the murti. A large carved stone lotus basin rises behind. Other orange-clad men are visible in the blurred background, and a stone pedestal supports the murti. The ritual appears to be abhishekam.2016-11-26 +1 copiesNovember 26 20162016-11-26 +1 copiesDecember 19 20102010-12-19 +1 copies
