A brass lamp with a peacock-shaped finial stands in the foreground, its wick flames lit in a star-shaped dish with burning coals. Behind it, out of focus, several people in orange and saffron clothing move about an open outdoor ground with palm trees. A bare-chested man in an orange head wrap and red-orange cloth sits near the lamp, and a person in white dhoti stands at right, with a few others in red and orange garments. The setting suggests a ritual lamp offering in an open-air ceremonial space.2016-10-29Close-up photograph of two ornate brass oil lamps (deepams) with bird-shaped tops.
