A large outdoor crowd of many hundreds gathers at a riverbank, with a central figure wading waist-deep into shallow water, arms extended, wearing a deep red-orange garment and a heavy gold necklace with beaded garlands. Around him, devotees in red and saffron robes and rudraksha-style beaded malas wade into the water, some with hands pressed together. Red and orange flags and parasols rise above the throng, and a ceremonial umbrella with a red fringe stands at the left. Photographers and camera operators crowd the front edge, and a bare-chested priest in white stands at the bottom left. Scene suggests a sacred bathing ritual at a Kumbh gathering.
