A decorated temple palanquin, or ratha, is carried through a crowded village street during a festival procession. The palanquin is draped in flower garlands of white and orange blossoms, with yellow and red cloth hanging from its base and a domed, multicoloured canopy on top. Men in white dhotis and pink or red turbans carry poles beneath it, and a musician in white plays a brass horn at right. Dense crowds line the street, many in white and bright saris, and yellow pennant bunting stretches across the scene. Behind them a yellow wall shows a Kannada-script sign advertising a business. No identifiable a person is visible among the people in the procession.
