A photograph of a ceremonial initiation on a red carpeted stage. A seated figure in red robes with long dark hair and a crown-like headpiece raises a silver trident, while a golden throne with ornate carvings stands behind him. Before him, a shaven-headed man in white dhoti with a red-and-gold cloth kneels and bows forehead to the ground, touching the dais. Nearby, a man in red robes with rudraksha mala holds a microphone and writes on a notepad, and a woman in white with gold necklace holds folded red cloth. A cameraman in white dhoti films from the left, and two other white-clad men stand in the background. A small brass lamp sits near the kneeling devotee.

He wears a white garland and a tilak on his forehead, and is pouring from a small white vessel into the cupped hands of a woman in a white sari with gold border who kneels before him. To the left, two men in white dhotis with gold borders sit on the floor, one holding a metal plate and the other tending items nearby. Red and patterned rugs cover the platform and a green plant edges the frame.
