Several men in white shirts, checked shirts, lungi-style wraps and head cloths use spades, crowbars and hand tools; one man stands on the upper edge and another at the bottom level. Trees and shrubs stand behind the pit, and a framed portrait sits at the upper right near a red and white striped barrier. Sandals lie on the left ledge. No one is identified as a person in the scene.2006-10-25October 21 20062006-10-21October 25 20062006-10-25Workers dig a deep excavation pit of reddish-brown earth for a temple foundation. Seven men are visible in the pit and at its edges, several using long metal rods or crowbars to loosen soil and rocks. Some wear white shirts and lungis, one in a checked shirt, and several have striped or pink headcloths tied around their heads. Loose stones lie on the pit floor. A figure in a pink shirt sits at the lower right edge. No a person candidate is visible in the scene.2006-10-25Outdoor photo of a large rectangular foundation pit being excavated on dry reddish earth at a temple-construction site. Several workers in lungis and head cloths dig with spades and hoes inside the pit, while others stand at its edge. Four people in saffron-orange robes stand together near the pit's far side, with two men in white clothes beside them. A small red building with a green metal roof, stacked stones and palm trees appear behind them. One figure in saffron with long dark hair stands at the left of the group; the others are not distinctively identifiable from appearance, so the central saffron-clad figure is a sannyasi-type devotee rather than a confirmed identity.2006-10-25October 25 20062006-10-25Outdoor construction site at an ashram compound: a long trench dug into red-orange earth, with workers digging with long iron tools. Piles of grey gravel and cut grey stone blocks lie along the trench edge, with palm and leafy trees and a small brick building behind. Several men stand at the trench edge: a man in a white dhoti and white shirt, another in a white dhoti with orange-saffron cloth draped over his shoulders, a man in a checked shirt and grey trousers with a pink towel, and a worker in a checked shirt crouching in the trench. The scene is a plain work site with no visible ceremony.2006-12-12A photograph of an excavation trench at a construction site on dry, reddish-brown earth. Several workers are digging and hauling soil: one man in a white shirt and checked cap carries a long white pipe along the trench edge, another in a white dhoti and pink-and-blue head cloth swings a pickaxe, and a worker in a yellow-green shirt and a striped head cloth lifts a green basin of earth overhead. Another worker in a white vest and turban stands in the trench. Shadows fall across the ground and a stack of metal plates lies at the top right. Five people are visible.2007-04-20
