Outdoor cremation ceremony on open grass under a canopy strung with multicoloured bunting. A large wood pyre of stacked logs burns with bright flames and smoke on a pink-powdered square of ground. A figure in a saffron-orange robe stands beside the fire with hands raised in a ritual gesture. A man in white kneels on the ground at lower right, head bowed. Dozens of seated and standing people in white clothes sit on the grass, many with hands folded, watching the rite. A parked vehicle and trees sit at the edge of the field.
