Night photograph of a temple tank at a ritual observance. A row of shaved-headed men in white dhotis with gold borders sit on the stone steps at the water's edge, some holding small offering items, and small brass or clay plates of offerings lie on the steps. Strings of coloured lights hang across the grounds and are reflected in the dark water, and a bright floodlight illuminates the scene. Stone steps and potted plants line the left side, with empty tiered seating in the background.

Along the stone steps on the right, a row of people seated on the ground wear saffron and orange clothing, with some white-clad figures among them, facing the water. Pink and white cloth-wrapped bundles and umbrellas rest beside them under a fence railing. Across the tank, tiered stepped banks are lit with many small lamps, with a line of seated people near the water's edge and fairy lights strung above on the upper right. Some people stand on the upper walkway at the left. Appears to be a ceremonial gathering at a water tank at night.2013-12-26 +1 copiesNight photograph of an illuminated stepped tank or sarovar at an outdoor festival. Reflective water fills the foreground, with light trails and coloured lamp streaks reflected on the surface. On the right, tiers of terraced steps are lit by strings of multicoloured lights and palm-tree lamps, with white bunting draped above. At the centre, a small group of people in orange and white robes gathers at the water's edge near a decorated platform, with a few seated figures in the far left stands. Floodlights glow at the left edge. The scene suggests a ritual bathing or tharpanam ceremony at night, though only the setting and lighting are clearly visible.2013-12-26Four shaven-headed men sit in a row at the edge of a dark temple tank at night, bodies partly in the water, wearing white dhotis with gold borders and bare chests. The nearest man, in the foreground, has his hands cupped together in the water, apparently performing a ritual bath. Light reflections of colourful lights ripple across the water. No one in the scene has a distinctive visible cue such as long hair, a crown or saffron robes, so no a person identification is made.2016-12-23December 26 20132013-12-26 +1 copiesDecember 26 20132013-12-26 +1 copiesDecember 23 20162016-12-23
