Photo of an aarti ritual inside a home room. A person seated on a red-orange sofa, wearing an orange-brown garment and a long garland of red and white flowers with lime-green beads, holds up a tall brass aarti lamp with a bright flame while a standing attendant in white dhoti and shawl with gold border holds a flame. Several devotees in white kneel with palms joined and hands extended toward the flame. Behind them, monastics in saffron-orange robes and rudraksha malas stand, and a standing fan and a mirror are visible on the wall.

Before them a flame burns in a metal vessel surrounded by flower petals, tended by a woman in white with bangles and a man in white kneeling with palms pressed together. Several men in ochre and saffron robes with rudraksha malas stand behind, and a shaved-headed man in white dhoti and shawl stands near the trident. The scene appears to be a homa or puja performed at a house visit. Appearance cues for the central seated figure are not distinctive enough to confirm identity from the image alone.2014-06-24 +1 copiesJune 24 20142014-06-24 +1 copiesJune 24 20142014-06-24 +1 copiesJune 24 20142014-06-24 +1 copiesJune 24 20142014-06-24 +1 copiesJune 27 20142014-06-27July 02 20142014-07-02 +1 copiesIndoor photograph of a domestic pada puja in a home in Pudukkotai.
