In the centre, a bald man in orange dhoti and shawl with a rudraksha mala and a bangle digs with a long-handled spade. Beside him, a woman in orange sari and another woman in orange carry or hold sand in a shallow tray. On the left, a woman in red sari stands near the pit. Behind them, several people in orange, red and dark clothes watch, including a bearded man in a red shirt and white shorts. Sandy earth, roots and green foliage surround the site.2016-09-11Outdoor photo of a temple foundation work site on reddish-brown earth. Several men in saffron-orange dhotis and shirts with maroon borders bend over digging with tools and hands beside a tall grey concrete pillar fitted with a rusted rebar cage. A woman in orange robes stands in the background, and a saffron flag flies on a pole against a bright sky with palm trees.2006-12-09Outdoor ritual at a gold-ornamented shrine structure. A long-haired person in an orange sleeveless top and orange dhoti pours water from a silver vessel over a clay pot holding a plant, with green leaves placed at its base. Beside them, saffron-robed men with rudraksha-style garlands and bangles stand with palms pressed together in devotion. A figure in white clothes stands behind, and a white canopy and flower garlands appear in the background. The gold-framed shrine has ornate carved relief patterns.2008-04-19April 24 20132013-04-24September 04 20162016-09-04April 02 20122012-04-02A photograph of a square brick-lined pit at a temple construction site. A shaven-headed monk in saffron robes stands on a bamboo ladder inside the pit, holding a shallow dish of earth or sand, while another saffron-robed monk crouches below and grips the ladder. Several more saffron-robed devotees stand around the rim, and one man in white dhoti and shirt stands among them. Earthen mounds and a bamboo ladder frame the scene. Shuddhi-style purification at a sanctum site is suggested by the context, but the pit is simply a excavated foundation area.2006-11-20December 30 20082008-12-30Outdoor photo at a construction site beneath leafy trees. A long-haired man in an orange saffron wrap stoops over a concrete foundation, guiding a dark granite slab being lowered by a crane cable. Around him, several men stand watching: an older man in a white shirt and white dhoti wearing a red cord, a man in a grey-striped shirt, and men in white and khaki clothing; a woman in a yellow sari stands further back. Wet concrete and a white bucket lie in the foreground.2004-12-31September 04 20162016-09-04
