In the foreground a shaved-headed priest in white dhoti with a maroon-bordered shawl and beaded gold necklace holds a copper plate of burning offerings over a flame, while another priest kneels behind him, wearing a similar white cloth and gold beads, stirring a bowl. A brass vessel sits on the ground, and a fire pit glows at lower left. Behind them, seated figures in white and a figure in red sit near a red-cushioned chair and a white armchair.2010-10-16November 09 20112011-11-09October 16 20102010-10-16October 26 20112011-10-26Night ritual homa at a fire pit: a large flame rises from a stone fire pit as two men in white dhotis and shawls with red-and-maroon borders and rudraksha-style beaded necklaces make offerings. The man at right holds a silver plate and ladle, and another man behind the flame pours from a brass vessel. A small brass bowl sits in the foreground on flower-strewn cloth. No a person candidate is clearly visible; the figures are presented as priests performing fire ritual.2010-10-16October 16 20102010-10-16A photograph of an evening fire ritual. In the foreground a man with a shaved head, wearing a white dhoti and shawl with red and maroon stripes and a yellow waist cloth, holds a large silver plate with a flaming oil fire and a bundle of ritual sticks. Beside him a second shaved-headed man, bare-chested and wearing a white cloth and a long beaded necklace, leans over a brass vessel and a fire pit. Blurred figures in white and orange clothing stand behind, and a white armchair and flower offerings appear at the back. The scene is a homa or yagna with a fire, not a person depiction.2010-10-16 +1 copiesOctober 26 20112011-10-26October 26 20112011-10-26
