Close view of a traditional ayurvedic preparation: a dark stone mortar holds a golden-yellow paste being ground with a dark wooden pestle, held by a hand in a rust-orange garment sleeve. Beside it, a larger stone grinding slab with a pestle rests on a purple and white striped cloth, next to polished silver vessels with ornate engraved rims, one holding turmeric-coloured powder with a small silver spoon. Turmeric dust is scattered around the stone bowl. No people's faces are visible, only arms and sleeves.
