Outdoor photograph of a crowd gathered on a white temple veranda, many looking upward with hands raised or pressed in prayer. In the foreground, two figures in saffron-orange robes stand near the right edge, one raising his arm and pointing toward a white rope or cord that hangs from above, the other with hands folded. Nearby, a man in a green t-shirt and a woman in orange kneel or stand with hands raised. Devotees in white shirts, pink and yellow garments wear yellow shawls. White pillars, a white stone elephant sculpture, and striped multicolored kalasha-like finials decorate the structure, with pink flower petals visible on a tray at right. Trees and a blue tarp appear in the background.

A man in orange robes sits cross-legged on the raised white platform, holding a rope with white flowers and gripping ropes with his hands, apparently helping pull a ratha-style structure. Behind him stands a large copper kalasha-shaped vessel with yellow and orange garlands, and a colourful striped canopy with fringes overhangs the left side. Brass bowls and a small brass lamp sit on a wooden table in the foreground. Several people hold up mobile phones and a video camera toward the scene.2009-01-02
