A photograph of a Hindu homa ritual at night. A shaved-headed man in saffron-orange robes and a gold necklace sits with palms pressed together in prayer before a carved wooden throne-like seat with a high ornate back. Beside him, two men in white dhotis and yellow shawls sit with hands folded, and another man in white and yellow stands behind them. Smoke rises from a fire pit at left, with banana trees framing the scene and a brass lamp and offerings on the mat. The orange-robed man's appearance is consistent with the page's reference to a person, though the identification is uncertain from appearance alone.

A central man sits on a carved wooden chair wearing an orange-saffron robe, a gold necklace and a rudraksha-style bead mala, with hands folded in prayer and a vertical tilak on his forehead; his hair is not long or swept back and the cues are not distinctive enough to name him. Two younger men flank him in white dhotis with yellow shawls and folded hands, one in glasses with a tilak, and a third person kneels behind. A banana-leaf and tree decoration hangs overhead, with a brass vessel, a kalasha-like pot with flowers, and a silver figure on a side table.2009-09-26May 20 20122012-05-20May 20 20122012-05-20A photograph of a homa ritual on a floor covered with woven mats, with bamboo poles framing the space.
