A large crowd of devotees processes through a stone-pillared corridor of a South Indian temple, following an ornately decorated palanquin-style shrine (ratha) lit with warm lamps, with a deity murti seated inside draped in yellow cloth and garlanded with flowers. Many people wear white dhotis and shawls, women wear sarees in purple, pink and blue, and a man in an orange robe with a saffron head covering stands at the left near a silver trident (trishul) decorated with flower garlands. Carved lion figures decorate the pillar tops. The palanquin is brightly lit with tassels hanging from its sides.
