Night photo at an outdoor shivalingam-style black stone lingam with water running down its curved surface and pink flower petals on its base. Several small oil lamps line the wet stone floor. A long-haired man in saffron-orange robes with a layered beaded necklace stands smiling at the base, one hand holding a staff. Beside him, a priest in white dhoti with a bare upper body and a bearded man in white holds a brass vessel and a ritual lamp. Another person in orange and white stands at the right edge with a bunch of flowers nearby. A stone wall with rows of lamp niches forms the background. Lamps and worship suggest a Karthikai Deepam ritual.

December 11 20082008-12-11December 11 20092009-12-11Night photograph of a large polished black stone lingam, its surface beaded with water, at an outdoor shrine. Around its base lie pink and green flower garlands and small oil lamps. Four men stand before it: a figure in an orange robe and a long gold-beaded necklace holds a lit oil lamp and a brass bell, with dark hair falling to the shoulders; beside him a man in a white kurta and orange shawl holds his hands in anjali; another man in a yellow-orange garment stands at the right edge; a fourth figure in orange kneels at the far left. Dark background, with a rising thread of smoke and a row of small oil lamps along the ground. This appears to be a lingam abhishekam or aarti at night.2008-12-11December 11 20082008-12-11Night ritual photograph at a large black stone lingam with a curved top. A long garland of pink and green flowers wraps its base, and small oil lamps line the ledge. A figure with long dark hair and a swept-back style wears an orange robe and reaches toward the lingam with both hands. Behind him, a man in an orange shirt holds a microphone, and an older bearded man in an orange-and-maroon robe stands with hands folded. On the right, two people in white and yellow-orange clothing hold a brass aarti plate and a flaming lamp. Rose petals are scattered on the stone path, and a dark stone wall forms the backdrop. Several people are visible, so the count is in the small group range.2008-12-11 +1 copiesDecember 11 20082008-12-11Night photograph at a large black stone lingam-style shrine with a curved dome top.
