January 01 20102010-01-01A person with long, swept-back hair in a white garment lights a brass oil lamp, a tall gold standing lamp, in front of a deity murti. The deity is dark-skinned, dressed in a red and gold sari-like cloth, adorned with white jewelled necklaces, a silver crown and earrings, and framed by a red and white flower garland. The murti sits within an ornate silver arched niche on a black backdrop, with a painted decorated pillar behind the lamp. Scene suggests puja or aarti in a temple shrine.2010-01-01 +1 copiesA seated person in plain white ritual clothing, with long dark hair, performs puja at a shrine before a black stone deity murti wearing a white crown, garlands of red and white flowers, a gold necklace and a maroon and gold silk garment. Before the deity sits a white marble figure in orange robes and a maroon cap with garlands, presented as a statue rather than a living person. Ornate brass oil lamps flank the shrine, with silver arch framing, decorated pillars and trays of yellow flowers, a silver kalasha and a brass puja vessel in the foreground.2009-09-22A photograph inside a shrine where a black stone deity murti stands beneath a silver arch decorated with red, white and orange flower garlands. The murti wears a green and magenta silk drape, jeweled ornaments and a crown. In front, a shaved-headed man in an all-white dhoti and shirt with red trim sits on a low stool and holds a small lamp or offering vessel toward a smaller orange-robed figure seated on a white pedestal, which is also garlanded. Brass oil lamps with bird-shaped tops stand on both sides, a copper vessel and brass plates with flowers and offerings rest on the polished floor, and a tray of yellow and pink flowers sits at lower left. The scene appears to be a puja with arati. The man holding the lamp is a priest in white ritual clothes and is not an appearance-based candidate for a person.2009-09-22January 01 20102010-01-01 +1 copiesA photograph inside a temple shrine.
