A photograph of a temple ceremony outdoors under a open-sided canopy. In the foreground a golden Nandi-shaped vahana or stand is draped with a yellow cloth and garlanded with red, orange and white flower garlands, holding a silver-decorated deity murti. A flower-patterned kolam decorates the ground. Red-carpeted steps lead up to a shrine, where several people in saffron, orange and white garments stand. A man in a dark red-and-gold dhoti holds a small orange bag, and another man in white dhoti and shirt stands nearby. Fire pit with ash sits at the lower right corner. Trees and palms surround the site.

Behind him rises a tall backrest decorated with red, yellow, white and green flower garlands. Around the dais, priests in white dhotis stand and sit; a bare-chested priest in an orange shawl holds a tray, a man in saffron-red robes with a rudraksha mala raises a golden ceremonial fan, and a woman in red robes with a rudraksha mala stands with hands folded. Golden ceremonial standards with trident motifs and sun-disc finials frame the scene. Gold offering boxes and a flower garland sit on a striped rug, and a few seated devotees watch from the lower right. The setting is a courtyard in front of a white building.2015-07-18 +1 copiesOutdoor ceremony under a yellow canopy at a temple-style stage. A seated figure in saffron and orange robes sits on an ornate gold throne with a gold lion armrest and a red cushion, a crowned silver-and-gold ritual figure in the centre, and a large garlanded deity murti with flower garlands on a side altar. Many devotees sit in white and saffron clothing, some in red-and-saffron shawls, with a fire pit (homa) and brass lamps in the foreground. Ceremonial staffs and a red-and-gold parasol frame the scene. Visible cues for the throne figure: long swept-back hair, saffron clothing and ornate adornments, consistent with the page's reference to a person, though the face is not clear enough for certainty.2015-07-18 +1 copiesJanuary 03 20152015-01-03Photograph inside a temple shrine hall.
