Photograph taken from inside a building looking through open reddish-brown wooden double doors with small glazed panes toward an empty hall beyond. The hall has a tiled ceiling of many rows of wooden rafters and round white pillars, with a grey concrete floor. A single small figure in white clothing stands far off in the hall beyond the doorway. Light walls are yellow below and white above, with wall-mounted switch boxes on both sides of the door frame.

Exterior view of a whitewashed colonial-style palace entrance with a row of white round columns supporting a covered portico. A dark wooden double door sits beneath an arched fanlight in the centre, with a hanging lantern from the ceiling and a terracotta-tiled floor leading in. No people are visible. The scene shows architecture, not a ritual, so no physical people or candidates appear.

A photograph of a covered colonnade inside a traditional building with dark wooden beams, carved stone pillars and a white wall with an arched fan-shaped window. Several people walk along the polished dark floor. In the foreground a woman in an orange sari with an orange shawl walks at right, and a woman in white with an orange shawl walks beside a pillar. Further back a figure in white with an orange shawl walks at left, and another person in white stands near a wooden bench. No clear visual cue establishes a specific candidate for a person, so the figures are described by role and dress only.

A traditional Kerala-style wooden palace building with a sloped terracotta tiled roof, a gabled dormer with carved wooden lattice, and an open pillared verandah. Plain white-washed walls surround a dark wooden door, reached by stone steps over a lawn with flowering shrubs. No people are visible in the scene. Behind it, similar tiled roofs of adjoining palace halls extend across the frame under a pale sky.

A photograph inside a white-walled colonnade with a dark polished floor and a large carved wooden double door with iron-grille fanlights. A central figure in a long saffron-orange robe with a rudraksha mala, with long dark hair, walks past the door. Behind them, two children in white and orange clothing stand near a stone pillar, and another person in white stands further back near the left edge. The setting resembles an ashram or temple corridor.

A long covered colonnade or veranda with a dark polished floor runs toward the distance. A row of carved wooden columns with ornate capitals stands along the open side, casting long diagonal shadows across the floor under warm sunlight. A white plastered wall with rectangular windows lines the left. Green shrubs and a grassy lawn lie beyond the columns, with a low building visible at the far end. No people are present.

Empty colonnade at Padmanabhapuram Palace in Kerala. Tall grey stone pillars with carved bases stand along a polished dark stone floor under a wooden eave with ornate carved brackets and a terracotta tiled roof. Whitewashed walls, small wooden-shuttered windows and green foliage at the right edge complete the traditional palace corridor. No people are visible.

Photograph of an empty covered colonnade in an old palace building, with a row of tall, square wooden pillars with carved capitals running along the right side under a dark timber roof. A white-washed wall with low white plinths stands to the left over a worn, mossy stone floor, and a polished dark floor runs along the pillars. A scooter is parked far down the corridor. No people are visible.
