A large festival procession moves through a crowded street. At the centre, a tiered ratha or palanquin covered in layered garlands of marigold and yellow, orange, white and maroon flowers carries a seated figure; a deity murti or a person sits within the decorated canopy. Red flags and many colourful parasols, including pink with gold brocade, green and purple ones, rise above the crowd. Along the front, people wear orange and saffron turbans and orange garments, men in white dhotis, and a drummer in yellow shirts plays a large drum. Behind the chariot stands a red-roofed hall under a pale sky with palms. Dense crowds fill the foreground, numbering far more than a hundred.
