A narrow paved village road curves through a flat rural area after a storm. On the left, a dense tangle of broken, leafless branches and scrub lines the verge, with green grass beneath. On the right, a utility pole with dangling cables stands by open grass and a grey dog. Several small figures walk along the road in the distance, and a white duck is at the right edge. Palm trees, some bent or stripped, fill the background under a pale cloudy sky.

A photograph taken from a moving vehicle on a wide tarmac highway curving through green roadside scrub under a cloudy sky. A yellow delivery van and a grey SUV travel on the left lanes, with a motorcyclist in a light shirt ahead of them. Several trucks and buses follow in the distance on the far lane. Tall steel lattice electricity pylons line the roadside, and a concrete median barrier with a yellow edge line runs along the right side.

A wide paved rural road junction in Kanchipuram district under a clear blue sky. Zebra crossings stripe the asphalt, and a raised concrete median sits at the corner. A man in white shirt and dark trousers sits on a low wooden cart pulled by a brown ox, carrying a load of straw. Behind them a pedestrian walks along the verge, a white LPG tanker truck passes on the right, and a roadside banner hangs over a small shop. Tall palm trees, leafy trees with a flowering pink tree, and thatched-roof huts stand beyond the road.

A wide paved road stretches into the distance under a partly cloudy blue sky, lined on both sides by tall poles flying saffron-orange flags. Along the right roadside, white banners with blue borders hang from stakes beside green grass and a small water channel. A bridge and trees appear in the far distance, and a banana plant grows at the left edge near a construction area of gravel and white boards. A single motorcycle rider travels down the road. No people are prominent in the foreground, and the scene appears to be a decorated approach route.

A tree-lined asphalt road runs toward the horizon under an overcast sky. Shaded by tall green trees with dirt verges, traffic moves in both directions: a blue-bodied truck, motorcycles and bicycles with riders in light clothing. On the left, several people in white dhotis and white garments walk along the verge, one woman in a white sari with an orange border. In the lower right, two heads are visible in the foreground, one wearing an orange-bordered white garment and another in white. No figure is clearly identifiable as a person.

A photograph of a wide, empty paved highway in flat countryside under a hazy white sky, with a dashed white lane marking and a raised concrete median on the left. Palm trees and coconut palms line the roadside. A white truck with an orange-painted cargo bed and an orange flag sits on the right shoulder. Three or four people in white clothing walk along the edge of the road beside the truck, some holding orange flags. A small white truck is parked on the left side of the road. Date stamp in orange digits reads 12.04.2008 and 12:39.

A photograph taken from inside a white vehicle on a busy two-lane road in an Indian town. Several men ride motorcycles and scooters in white shirts and light trousers, leading toward the camera. Two men on bicycles at the right edge, one in a checked shirt and one in a white shirt, ride along the dirt shoulder. A tall ornate gateway tower with colourful carved figures stands on the left beside a low wall, and tall palm and shade trees line the road under an overcast sky. Utility poles and wires run along the right side past a grey concrete boundary wall.

A rural road scene in daylight. A white van-style vehicle with dark ventilation panels and an upward arrow graphic on its rear drives along the asphalt, with luggage or bundles loaded on its roof. A man in a white shirt stands on the roof, and another man in a blue patterned shirt and grey trousers walks along the left verge. Coconut palms, shrubs, tall trees and a concrete utility pole with power lines line the road under a pale sky.

A long concrete causeway bridge runs straight toward the horizon under a pale blue sky. Its edges are lined with red-painted metal railings and tall rusted lamp posts with floodlights. A yellow centre line marks the road. A green and white bus and a few smaller vehicles travel along the bridge, and a few distant figures stand near the right edge. The scene is a road and bridge landscape with no ritual or a person depiction visible.
